Amid growing concerns around use of artificial intelligence (AI) for creating ‘deep fakes’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the new challenges imposed by new age technology needs to be addressed through information campaigns. While speaking at a function in New Delhi PM Modi laid emphasis on the role of media to educate the public regarding the new emerging crisis.
Prime Minister Modi while maintaining that India will be transformed into a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India), said that this vision is not just a set of words but a tangible reality. He also acknowledged the strong support received for the ‘vocal for local’ initiative, indicating a growing awareness and preference for locally produced goods and services among the people.
In his address, PM Modi also reflected on India’s accomplishments amid the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. PM Modi also highlighted that these achievements instilled confidence among the citizens that the country is on a continuous path of progress.
PM Modi also expressed his happiness over elevation of Chhath Puja to the status of a ‘rashtriya parva’ (national festival), expressing joy over its growing significance.

According to PM Modi, an awareness about the use of this technology was vital to take on the new challenges. The recent AI manipulated video featuring an actress that was circulated on the social media platform was widely condemned and later after it was taken down emphasis was laid on responsible use of technology and what could be the measures to mitigate the negative impact such technology.
